The Tahoe and Truckee area had their first entrepreneurial meetup and it was a great success! Here’s some of the letter that went out to all the attendees after the event from Eric Brown and Roy Tuscany, the organizers:
Thrive Tahoe sends a huge THANK YOU to all who attended our first event last Monday… way to go Thrive Tahoe! Or as Roy and I have been saying… “THRIVE IS ALIVE!”
It was amazing to see so many folks come out to support the event. Early startup community events in Boulder, CO (population of 100K) drew 19 people but, here in Truckee, (population of 16K), we drew 30! It is apparent we have an engaged entrepreneurial community interested in building out a THRIVING, cohesive startup network that can contribute to the success of current and future Tahoe based startups. Awesome!
The startups in attendance represented a great cross section of industry verticals – technology, apparel and outdoor products. The blend of local startups developing products and services across different market segments should provide a really cool information flow among management teams – technology can learn from design and apparel and the outdoor product startups will be able to learn from companies in the technology space. This interaction should provide a platform for company founders to connect, build real relationships with other entrepreneurs and advance their businesses.
We also would like to send a special note of thanks to our friends from Reno who invested the time to come up and support the first meet up. There has been tremendous work done in the Reno area in building that startup community. We should all look forward to integrating the start up community efforts in Tahoe with our entrepreneurial brethren in Reno.
Interested in attending the next Thrive Tahoe event? So far there is another monthly meeting planned for the 27th of August at the FiftyFifty Brewing Company’s back deck at 7pm. Check out mountainous brothers – they’ve got some exciting energy brewing!
